If there’s one icon who always reminds me to never give up, it’s Fred Astaire. When he went in for an audition with RKO Radio Pictures the talent scout wrote, “CAN’T ACT, CAN’T SING, CAN DANCE A LITTLE.” The producer thought he had charisma so he hired Fred and he went on to become a legendary dancer and actor.
Fred graced the silver screen in 31 musical films, 10 of which were with dance partner Ginger Rogers and they are still regarded as one of the greatest on-screen couples of all time.
In addition to being one of his generation’s greatest dancers, Fred was a successful composer and singer. Some of his hits include: “Puttin′ On The Ritz,” “Night and Day,” “Top Hat, White Tie and Tails” and “Shall We Dance.”
Exciting news for all of us Astaire fans – there are TWO biopic (biographical motion picture) movies being made about him!
